EICC Community:
As we begin a new academic year, I want to thank you for the energy, dedication, and heart you bring to your work every day. Whether you’re in a classroom, behind the scenes, or on the front line with students—you play a vital role in helping them reach their goals. You're the reason we’re able to serve our communities so well, and the reason our students can turn their hopes and dreams into reality.
During the Welcome Address, I shared the theme for the year: Let’s Do Better. It’s a challenge, a mindset, and a shared commitment to push ourselves in big and small ways to improve for our students, for each other, and for the future of EICC. As I step into this role, one of the most important ways I can be better for our students and for all of you is by listening carefully and making sure your voices are part of the conversation
This Council is designed to be a meaningful space where faculty and staff from across departments and campuses can engage directly with me. It’s an opportunity to raise ideas, identify challenges, and contribute insights that can help shape our decisions and direction.
The attached Council charge outlines the purpose, structure, and expectations.
Each area of the college will have a designated number of representatives. Those representatives will be nominated and selected by their peers. This is your opportunity to choose who you want to represent your voice.
Members of the Senior Leadership Team and Deans will help facilitate the process in each group. That may include hosting a quick meeting, organizing nominations, or conducting a simple vote. We’re asking all final selections be submitted by September 10.
The Council will meet twice each semester, and we’ll share takeaways with the broader community. Input from the Council will also be shared with leadership to help guide decisions and ensure we stay responsive to what matters most on the ground.
Thanks again for the work you do, and for the way you’ve stepped into this year with purpose and momentum. I’m looking forward to the conversations ahead—and to getting better, together.
Sincerely,
Bryan Renfro, PhD
