Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) believe in equal educational opportunities for all qualified individuals, regardless of race, color, creed, sex, marital status, religion, ancestry, national origin, sexual orientation, age, handicap or disability in the educational programs and activities it operates.

Clinton, Muscatine, and Scott Community Colleges have an open admission policy, which means anyone 16 years or older may apply, even without a high school diploma. Admission to the college does not automatically guarantee admission to all programs of study; you will need to meet the specific requirements for your chosen program. The colleges reserve the right to deny admission, re-admission or re-enrollment to anyone who may pose a risk to the best interests of the college community. The colleges reserve the right to guide your placement in programs and courses based on assessment interviews and past academic experience.

All new students must complete an orientation session after registration.

You may take up to six credit hours without providing transcripts from high school or other colleges you have attended, submitting ACT scores or taking entering assessments. To be officially admitted to a degree or certificate program, you must meet the full admission requirements of the college and the program.

You may enroll in classes at more than one of our colleges or at one of our colleges and any other institution. If you are receiving financial aid, notify the financial aid officers at all institutions in which you are enrolled.

Eligible high school students may be accepted for admission to EICC under Iowa’s Senior Year Plus. Approval by your high school is mandatory before you can enroll through this program.

High school students can also enroll in credit classes through our College Connections program. If you are requesting admission:

  1. Complete an admission application.
  2. Submit an approval form signed by you, a parent/guardian (if you are under 18 years old), and the high school counselor or principal.
  3. Submit your high school transcript.
  4. Complete assessments or submit ACT scores. You are placed in courses based on assessment, ACT scores, ALEKS placement, or high school GPA.
  5. Meet with an EICC advisor/high school counselor prior to registration.

If you are a pre-high school student, you may be able to take in EICC credit classes as long as you are currently enrolled in a public or private school. Your enrollment in any classes would be considered "enrichment" and is not intended to substitute for your public or private school experience.

Complete the steps below to request "special status" admission:

  1. Submit an admission application.
  2. Submit a agreement signed by your school system and your parent or guardian giving you permission to enroll at EICC. Submit this documentation to the EICC Dean of Student Development, who considers and must approve all “special status” admissions.
  3. If you haven't earned a high school diploma yet, take required placement assessments or submit ACT scores.  
  4. EICC reserves the right to limit the number and type of courses you may take. You will work with a college advisor to select courses and register. 

If you are home schooled, you may be able to take EICC credit classes as long as you are currently enrolled in a public or private school. Your enrollment in any classes would be considered "enrichment" and is not intended to substitute for your home school experience.

Complete the steps below to request "special status" admission:

  1. Submit an admission application.
  2. Provide a current copy of a signed home school permission agreement between the appropriate school system and the authorizing parent or guardian. Submit this documentation to the EICC Dean of Student Development, who considers and must approve all “special status” admissions.
  3. If you haven't earned a high school diploma yet, take required placement assessments or submit ACT scores.  
  4. EICC reserves the right to limit the number and type of courses you may take. You will work with a college advisor to select courses and register. 

Here's the steps to apply to Clinton, Muscatine, or Scott Community College:

  1. Submit an application for admission. If you are applying to more than one EICC college, you only need to submit one application.
  2. If you've already earned some college credits, request those official transcripts be sent to EICC. Then request an EICC Registrar evaluate your transcripts for the transfer of credits. 
  3. Provide assessment scores from ACT, high school transcript, or take any assessment required.

In addition to the steps above, we ask international students to provide:

  1. Evidence of proficiency in the English language (in the form of Test of English as a Foreign Language, TOEFL; EICC requires a score of 500 or better on the paper test, 173 on the CBT, 61 on the IBT).
  2. A completed Statement of Financial Support. Forms are available from the Admissions Office.

International students are required to maintain health insurance coverage while enrolled.

If you are an international student on an I-20 with another college, please provide the following:

  1. A copy of I-20.
  2. A copy of VISA/Passport.

Meet all applicable admissions requirements and you can be readmitted to EICC. Re-admittance into Career and Technical Education programs are subject to space availability and an evaluation of your previous progress.
