We provide a great path to build on your skills and your career. In our two-year program, learn how to gather sonographic data used to diagnose conditions and diseases. Iowa's Last-Dollar Scholarship may even cover your tuition.

What You Learn in Medical Sonography

Our program is in-depth and hands-on. Learn how to operate the equipment, process data, and offer patient care and instructions. Complete five practicums and advance your scanning techniques. Gain extensive knowledge in anatomy, physiology, and disease processes. Graduate, then take the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers certification exam.

What Can I Do as a Medical Sonographer? 

You are an essential member of the healthcare team and your work makes an impact on the lives and health of patients. You explain the procedure and answer questions. You obtain and review diagnostic images and provide a summary to the physician. Work in hospitals, clinics, imaging centers, medical, and diagnostic labs. Every day will be different and you will continue to learn and advance your skills throughout your career.

If this is the career for you, don't wait. Our two-year, full-time program admits a limited number of students each year. Classroom instruction is coupled with supervised clinical experiences at local hospitals and clinics. Here's more details: 

You must hold an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in a health-related field involving direct patient care and a 12-month clinical component, or bachelor’s degree or higher in any field, to apply.

EICC's  Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Care, and Nursing programs are examples that fit these requirements.

Iowa's Last-Dollar Scholarship

You may be eligible to earn a degree in this high-demand field for zero tuition costs! You file for financial aid, and if your Expected Family Contribution is at or below $20,000, the state covers the remaining balance beyond the aid for which you are eligible. More than two dozen career programs qualify, including this one. File your FAFSA by July 15.
