The SCC Foundation Mission is to provide financial resources that support student scholarships and our college community..
The SCC Foundation is a volunteer board of up to 18 community members and seven college representatives. Through the generosity and support of the Foundation’s board, faculty and staff, area businesses and organizations, and many other friends, we're able to award scholarships, provide emergency assistance to students in need, outfit classrooms and labs with new instructional equipment, and launch special projects that allow students to achieve their educational dreams.
The work we do impacts the lives of students and contributes to the strength of our region, and you can play a part. The Foundation is seeking community members to join our board.

Here's What Your Volunteer Service Entails:
Board members serve a three year term. At the end of the term, you can choose to:
- Lead a committee of your choice during a second term.
- Accept an officer role and progress to the role of Board president, followed by a year serving as past-president.
The Board meets five times a year typically 12 – 1 p.m., with lunch provided, in the following months:
- February (Board retreat and three-hour board training)
- April – Annual Lunch/Dinner
- August
- September
- November
The dates of all meetings are set during the November meeting.
Each board member serves on a committee. New board members rotate through each one to get a full understanding of the Foundation’s work. This helps you determine how and where you want to serve after the third year. The committees are:
- Finance & Investment
- Events
- Board Membership
Each committee meets five times a year for one hour.
The Foundation awards student scholarships in the fall and in the spring. You will participate in one of the award cycles, reviewing and rating up to 25 applicants. This process is completed electronically and can be done at home in an hour or less. We value this service, as do our board members, as it gives each of them a first-hand personal connection to the needs of our students.
