Scott Community College (SCC) will celebrate the accomplishments of more than 700 students on Friday, May 10, during its 57th Commencement Ceremony.

The event begins at 6 p.m. at Vibrant Arena at the Mark, 1201 River Drive, Moline, Illinois. Family, friends, and community members are invited to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of these graduates. For those unable to attend in person, the college will livestream the event at eicc.edu/grad24

Here is a sampling of SCC’s outstanding graduates:

  • Amanda LeVan
LeVan was working full-time at an early learning center when she started taking classes at SCC in 2016. A non-traditional student who was also raising a family with her husband, she took one course at a time. Eight years later, she’s graduating from EICC with honors, an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, and a lot of pride. “I did it, and this is something I did for myself,” she said.
  • Anthony Holland and Keionna Holland
Many parents are overcome with pride when their child graduates. For Anthony Holland, the event on Friday will hold even more significance. His daughter, Keionna Holland, will graduate with a transfer degree in Criminal Justice. The same day, he is graduating with a Culinary Arts degree. Both have big plans for the future.
  • Bradley Thiessen-Cooper
Thiessen-Cooper had been out of school for 14 years when he decided to return, and he excelled. He was SCC’s Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) chapter President, PTK Iowa Regional President, a PTK Hallmark Award recipient, and an Iowa All-Academic Student. Thiessen-Cooper achieved all of this while balancing school, work, and a newborn son. With an associate’s degree in communication, he plans to transfer to St. Ambrose University in the fall.

Theissen-Cooper will be featured at Commencement as the 2024 student speaker.
