Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) is proud to host the traveling exhibition “Exit Wounds: Soldiers' Stories – Life After Iraq and Afghanistan,” featuring the powerful photography and interviews of veterans returning home from war. Created by award-winning photographer and author Jim Lommasson, the exhibit captures the deeply personal stories of American soldiers as they reintegrate into civilian life after serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The exhibit will be open to the public from Monday, Sept. 9, through Friday, Sept. 20, at EICC’s Scott Community College Urban Campus, located at 101 West Third St. in Davenport, IA. An opening reception will also be held in the campus’s Community Room on Monday, Sept. 9, from 5 – 7 p.m.
All are invited to view the compelling stories of soldiers as they confront the lasting impacts of war. The collection of images and narratives sheds light on the personal and emotional aftermath experienced by veterans and the civilians caught in conflict.

About Jim Lommasson
Jim Lommasson, based in Portland, Oregon, is a renowned freelance photographer and author whose work focuses on the human stories behind conflict and its aftermath. His 2015 book, "Exit Wounds: Soldiers’ Stories – Life After Iraq and Afghanistan," is at the heart of this exhibit, offering veterans a platform to share their experiences in their own words and images. In addition to this project, Lommasson has been recognized with multiple grants for his work, including the Oregon Humanities Conversation Project grant and the Regional Arts and Culture Council Project Grant for his ongoing project, "What We Carried: Fragments from the Cradle of Civilization."
“The soldiers need to tell their stories, and we need to hear them. We must know the true consequences of their — of our — actions. We must take responsibility for the aftermath of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as at home,” said Lommasson.
