Building for the future
The economic future of Eastern Iowa depends on a skilled workforce, and 65 percent of the jobs of today and tomorrow require education and training beyond high school. Expanding career and technical education throughout the region, especially in our rural communities, increases access and opportunities for eastern Iowans to build the skills necessary for a prosperous and productive future.
Thank you to the voters within the EICC service area. More than 70% supported a bond referendum that allowed us to build and open new facilities and programs to prepare skilled workforce and strengthen our region.
What we built
Scott Community College
Belmont Campus
Renovated and redesigned space to create a new Health Sciences Center.
Muscatine Community College
Career Advancement Center
New facility to support: Auto Tech, Construction, Criminal Justice, and Nursing.
DeWitt
Career Advancement Center
New facility to support: Ag, Business, Construction, CNC, Health, and IT programs.
Clinton Community College
Career Advancement Center
New facility to support: Ag, Auto Tech, Construction, Culinary, Education, Health, IT, and Welding.
What we added
High school Career Academies
Career Academies are partnerships with area high schools that provide students with hands-on career training and college credits before they graduate.
Career Academies provide a clear career path and goal for high school students and are especially beneficial for those who may not choose to pursue further education or training after graduation. A number of area school boards approved resolutions in support of the referendum because academy programs give students a jump start on a career.
