Muscatine Ag Learning Center
Opened in 2009, Muscatine’s Agricultural Learning Center is home for Muscatine Community College’s (MCC) Veterinary Technician program.
The center is a cooperative effort between MCC, the Muscatine Friends of the FFA,
Muscatine Community School District and several area businesses.
The $3.5 million facility boasts a climate-controlled indoor arena, 20 horse stalls,
cattle pens and classrooms. In addition to the veterinary technician program, the
center is utilized by both MCC’s and Muscatine High School’s agriculture programs,
hosts livestock shows, sales and many agriculture-related activities.
MCC’s two-year Veterinary Technician program meets the Associate in Applied Science
degree requirements for individuals entering the job market with the skills to perform
a variety of functions as registered veterinary technicians.
Started in 2008, the college continues to work closely with area veterinarians in
development of the program which includes on-the-job training. Courses are taught
by veterinarians and experienced veterinary technicians.
