Muscatine Industrial Technology Center
Opened in 2005, the Muscatine Industrial Technology Center (MITC) is a $1.2 million, state-of-the-art, training facility. Located on the Muscatine Community College campus, the more than 8,000-square-foot facility is specifically designed to train the manufacturing workers of today and tomorrow.
Industrial Training & Services
The MITC’s Haas mills and lathes are identical to those used in the most modern manufacturing
businesses and are a key part of the college’s computer numeric control(CNC) programming
classes.
The MITC also features a welding lab and additional space for hands on instruction in engineering technology, hydraulics, pneumatics, electricity, programmable logic control (PLC) and robotics.
All of that space and technology allows the college to meet the flexible schedules of students and business and industry. The MITC will provide everything from short-term certificate programs that are several weeks in length to full Associate in Arts Degree programs.
Training is available to both individuals looking for a new career and current employees who want to upgrade their skills. The college also works with area business and industry to develop training specifically designed to meet their needs.
Business Partners
The MITC would not have been possible without the direct support of several local
businesses. Muscatine Community College used the commitment made by these companies
to secure an Accelerated Career Education (ACE) grant from the Iowa Department of
Economic Development.
Those companies include: The HON Company, Allsteel, Bandag, Grain Processing Corp, Monsanto, Carver Pump, BT Prime Mover, HJ Heinz and Musco Sports Lighting.
