Foundation Awards

Every year, Arconic (previously ALCOA) and the SCC Foundation present the ARCONIC Leadership Award. Nominees are considered for their contributions to the community, exemplary leadership, and dedication to Scott Community College.

2024 Recipient: Ascentra Credit Union Foundation

On behalf of ARCONIC and the SCC Foundation it was our honor to present this year’s ARCONIC Leadership Award to Ascentra Credit Union Foundation. This award was presented to the Ascentra Credit Union Foundation for their leadership and commitment to serving students in need through their student assistance fund. This fund was established in 2018 to help students with emergency needs. Student may use this grant only once during their entire enrolment with EICC. This grant can provide students with up to $500. These funds can be used to help students with transportation and vehicle repair expenses, utilities, food, and medical expenses. This grant does not have to be repaid. Student receive financial relief at a time when they need it most. This allows students to focus on working toward their educational goals. Students who receive this support provide a thank you letter to express their gratitude and the importance of grants like the one funded by Ascentra Credit Union Foundation. Since it inception this grant has helped 35 students in their time of need.

    For their families dedication to the SCC Foundation, the college and to students.  Teresa served on the SCC Foundation from 1998 until 2008.  Beau has served since 2008 – he’s served now for 15 years. The Perkins family established their own Diesel Technology scholarship when the program began at the college.

    Awarded to the "Father of Iowa Community Colleges" for understanding the importance of education and work force training for the people of the State of Iowa.
