Women's Giving Network
Educate A Women, Empower The World
The Women’s Giving Network began in 2012 by a handful of energized women empowered to make a lasting impact at the college. The network began by recruiting members to give $100 a year for five consecutive years. The goal was to recruit 50 members each year for the next five years to raise a total of $25,000. With the money raised, a $1,000 scholarship would be given to a non-traditional women returning to college at Scott Community College (SCC). By the end of the fifth year a total of five $1,000 scholarships would be awarded and $20,000 would be endowed to forever fund the scholarship. Thanks to the quick interest in the community and a grant from the Junior League of the Quad Cities for $5,000 this goal was met a year early in 2015.
The network decided to continue to raise funds for a second scholarship. This time, the scholarship would be awarded to a female student who is currently studying at SCC. With an amazing show of support from the current members and a growing number of new members, the network once again met its goal.
Today the work of the Women’s Giving Network continues as the members work to triple their efforts with the proceeds this time going to a women studying in a Career & Technical Education Program.
Each year, the network hosts two different events. In the fall, the network has a social in which both members and their guests are invited to attend. In the spring, the network hosts a member exclusive event where the scholarship recipients are introduced.
