What is an Associate Degree?

Choosing a degree depends on your career goals, interests, and educational aspirations. And you can graduate with any one of these degrees in as little as two years.

What is the difference between an AA and AS?

An AA focuses on liberal arts and humanities. It’s a great choice if you’re interested in fields like literature, languages, social sciences, and the arts. An AA degree can be a stepping-stone to a bachelor's degree in a related field.

An AS degree emphasizes science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. It’s a great choice if you are interested in subjects like biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, and mathematics. An AS degree prepares you for further studies or entry-level positions in STEM-related careers.

What is the difference between Transfer and Career and Technical Education (CTE)?

When choosing your path at EICC, it’s important to know the difference between Transfer and Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. Transfer programs are for you if you plan to start your bachelor's degree at EICC and then move on to a four-year college. These programs focus on general education and major-specific courses, and you’ll earn an AA or AS.

CTE programs, on the other hand, prepare you for the workforce, often in two years or less. These programs offer hands-on training in fields like healthcare, manufacturing, and IT, designed with industry input to match job market needs. Depending on the CTE program you choose, you might earn a certificate, diploma, or AAS.
