A new commercial kitchen space is opening its doors in downtown Muscatine, ready to help local food makers turn their passion into a business.
The 215 West Culinary Incubator will celebrate its grand opening with a public open house and ribbon cutting on Tuesday, June 3, from 4 - 6 p.m. at 215 W. 2nd St. The ribbon cutting begins at 4:30 p.m.
Those who attend can tour the space, meet the team, and find out how the incubator can help launch or grow a food-based business.
The incubator is a community investment aimed at sparking small business growth, supporting local talent, and boosting the local economy. The incubator is co-sponsored by Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC), the Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine, and the Iowa Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at EICC.
“The incubator is a resource for anyone who is ready to start or scale their food business. The kitchen can be rented by the hour, and users have access to secure storage, and can get expert guidance from SBDC staff,” said Naomi DeWinter, EdD, Muscatine Community College President.
SBDC staff will provide one-on-one advising to entrepreneurs and small business owners, offer drop-in office hours in Muscatine, and hold workshops on topics that include market testing, branding, creative content, and ServSafe certification.
