Grand Openings

The economic future of Eastern Iowa depends on a skilled workforce, and 65 percent of the jobs of today and tomorrow require education and training beyond high school.

Expanding career and technical education throughout the region, especially in our rural communities, increases access and opportunities for recent high school grads and adults to land great jobs and launch great careers.

Thanks to you, and residents throughout the district, we’ve achieved this goal. In October, we celebrate the grand opening of three major construction projects that allow EICC to provide new programs and hands-on skilled training in Bettendorf, DeWitt, and Muscatine.

It’s an expansion that will strengthen our region.

Thank you to the voters within the EICC service area. In March 2021, more than 70% supported the $40 million bond referendum that allowed us to build new facilities and offer these programs.

 

SCOTT HEALTH SCIENCES CENTER

Built for educating our region’s future nurses and allied health professionals, this addition includes:

• Redesigned nursing, dental, surgical tech, medical assisting, and CNA labs and classrooms.
• Students learn hands-on, using cutting-edge patient simulators, new technology, and more.

 

MUSCATINE CAREER ADVANCEMENT CENTER

This ultramodern, $10 million facility will support career and technical education training programs.

• In dynamic classrooms and spacious labs, students get in-depth training in Automotive Technology, HVAC, Criminal Justice, and more.
• Classrooms specifically designed to educate future nurses and allied health professionals.
• The center will host high school Career Academies, offering juniors and seniors an opportunity to build workforce skills and earn college credits at no cost.

DEWITT CAREER ADVANCEMENT CENTER

This state-of-the-art 26,000 square-foot facility will support career and technical education training programs.

• One wing of the building is designed for, and dedicated to, educating future CNC machinists, construction workers, farmers and Ag experts.
• Healthcare and IT programs will also be housed in the building.
• The center will host high school Career Academies, offering juniors and seniors an opportunity to build workforce skills and earn college credits at no cost.

SCC STUDENT COMMONS

As construction of the Health Sciences Center at Scott Community College (SCC) was underway, a second project was, too. While not funded by the bond, EICC invested in the construction of a new student entrance, commons, and services area.

This colorful, hip space gives SCC students a comfortable place to do homework, meet with friends, grab a drink or a snack. All student services they may need, like the business office and registrar, are now in one area.
