Mobile Messaging and Voice Communications Terms & Conditions

Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) uses text messaging (SMS), voice calls, and related communication technologies to provide timely and relevant information to students, prospective students, employees, and community members. 

By providing your mobile or telephone number and opting in, you confirm you are over the age of 13 and agree to receive informational and transactional communications from EICC as outlined below.  

Program Description 

EICC may communicate with you via text message (SMS), voice calls (including automated or prerecorded messages), and other communication technologies related to: 

  • Enrollment and admissions updates 
  • Registration reminders and deadlines 
  • Financial aid notifications 
  • Student support services and resources 
  • Event invitations and campus updates 
  • Account-related or transactional communications 
  • Emergency notifications, campus safety alerts, and weather-related closures or delays 

Consent to Receive Communications 

By voluntarily providing your phone number through EICC forms, applications, event registrations, or other communication channels, you consent to receive communications from EICC via: 

  • Text messages (SMS) 
  • Voice calls (including automated technology or prerecorded/artificial voice messages) 
  • Other communication technologies  
  • Consent is not a condition of participation or enrollment. 

Use of Automated and AI Technologies 

EICC may use automated systems, dialing technologies, and artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled tools to support timely, accurate, and personalized communications. 

These technologies may be used to: 

  • Send or respond to text messages 
  • Deliver voice messages or route calls 
  • Provide automated assistance or information 
  • AI tools are used to enhance communication and service delivery and may operate with human oversight. 

Message and Call Frequency 

Frequency varies. 

  • You may receive multiple messages or calls per week depending on the services requested or opted into and your engagement with EICC. 
  • Emergency and safety communications may be sent at any time and may be time-sensitive. 

Opt-Out Instructions 

You may opt out of receiving non-emergency communications at any time. 

  • Text messages: Reply STOP to unsubscribe, after you reply STOP, the service will send a message to confirm that you have been unsubscribed.  
  • You may also request to stop voice communications by contacting EICC directly 

After opting out, you will no longer receive non-emergency communications unless you re-enroll. 

Note: Opting out may limit your ability to receive important updates. EICC may use additional communication methods for critical safety notifications.

Message and data rates may apply for SMS messages depending on your mobile carrier and plan. EICC is not responsible for any charges incurred. 

Privacy and Data Use 

EICC respects your privacy. Information collected through communications may include: 

  • Phone number

  • Communication preferences 
  • Interaction history 
  • This information is used to: 
  • Provide services and support 
  • Deliver relevant communications 
  • Improve engagement and student success 
  • Support campus safety and operations

Data Sharing and Protection 

EICC does not sell, rent, or share your phone number or communication consent with third parties for marketing purposes. 

Information may be shared only with trusted service providers to support message and call delivery, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. 

Eligibility 

By providing your phone number, you confirm you are the authorized user of that number and have the authority to consent to receive communications. 

Changes to Terms 

EICC may update these Terms & Conditions at any time. Updates will be posted on this page with the revised effective date. Your continued use of the SMS messaging service and voice calls after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms & Conditions.
